There are some ways that I will tell you to overcome on this problem from my own experience of competitive exams in which I was able to secure high rank. Many aspirants apply following two ways to learn and I’m no different.

The first way to remember what you read to understand it properly whatever you have read or study. To Improve understanding of any topic no matter what that topic is, is to first understand it from the basics and go deep to the understanding. To achieve this task, always try to use simpler books on your desired subjects. Lots of students choose complex book on the subject to study and understand the topic but often students don’t get to understand the subject.

The second way to remember, you have to be able to explain the subject to someone else. As soon as you start explaining your desired subjects someone else, you would figure out quickly what you don’t know and what the gaps are.

We often zone out when we attempt to study. We breeze through few pages with no recollection of the material we have just read. This is pretty common for all of us. If we want our learning to retain, we need to be doing more than just reading a textbook or passively listening to our teachers. Of course, most learning will inevitably involve some reading and listening, but by using a variety of techniques to cement new information in our minds, we’ll be far more likely to retain it in the long-term. So, for me, the tips to retain information are:

  • Use Exaggerated Associations: This can be best understood by for using the term “elaborative encoding.” Basically, what I do is, look at the target information and then find something that I can connect to it.
For example, if I need to memorise a scientific term which is very difficult to pronounce, I look at the first couple of letters of that term and next, I associate it with the thing that I use in my daily life or the person who I know.

  • Test Yourself Strategically: In order to properly benefit from active recall, it’s important that we test ourselves.
For example, If I have a journal or piece of paper in front of me and the target information is nowhere in sight, then I write out what I’ve memorised using exaggerated association, this way I get the benefits of active recall. Over time, you’ll get stronger and stronger using this technique.

Reshamgupta Something that u want to learn, u dont have to put efforts to retain it..ur interest will take care of that..most probably u r doing something that u dont want to do, that’s why u need effort.. try to make it effortless..and that will only happen unless u r willing.
