The full form of WBTET is West Bengal Teacher Eligibility Test which is also known as the WB TET exam. WBTET exam is conducted to recruit teachers for the lower primary classes and upper primary classes in the school under the West Bengal Board of Education under the guidelines of the National Council for Teachers’ Education (NCTE).
The qualified candidates can choose to be government-employed teachers as well as in any privately run schools. The lower primary classes include classes 1 to 5 and the upper primary signifies classes 6 to 8. The West Bengal Board of Education has declared that a B.Ed qualification is mandatory to appear in the WBTET exam.
How to Apply-
The candidates can complete their application process online through the official site of wbbpe.org.Candidates have to fill up the application forms on the website to apply. A step-wise guide for the WBTET Exam application is provided here.
1-First of all, visit the West Bengal Board of Primary Education official site - wbbpe.org.
2-On the homepage, find and click on WBTET Application Form under the latest notifications section.
3-The application form for WBTET Exam will be available in front of your screen.
4-Read all the instructions carefully and enter your basic details.
5-After entering the basic information, the candidates will be required to enter their educational qualifications.
6-In the next step, the candidate needs to upload all the required documents. Make sure that the documents are visible and not blurred and must follow the prescribed size and format. Unclear and blurry documents can lead to the rejection of the Application.
7-After submitting the documents, the last and final stage is to preview the application and make sure that there are no mistakes and errors.
8-After reviewing the application form, the candidates can complete their application process by paying the application fees.
It is highly recommended to download and save copies of the application form and fee payment receipt for future use. The candidates must save them in a safe place.

Educational Qualification

Primary Teacher (Class 1 to 5)
The candidate must have passed Higher Secondary/ Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks and a 2-year diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.)
OR
The candidate should have cleared Higher Secondary/ Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks and 4 years of Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.EI.Ed.)
OR
The aspirant must hold a Higher Secondary/ Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks and have Diploma in Education (Special Education), recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI)
OR
Graduation and a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) are also applicable for the candidates who are applying.
Secondary Teacher (Class 6 to 8)
The candidate must have cleared their B.Sc./ B.A. or equivalent education from a recognized university or college.
OR
The candidate should be having passed the B.Ed/ Secondary education exam with a minimum of 50% marks.
OR
The applicant must have qualified for the final four years of Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.EI.Ed).
OR
The candidates who are appearing in the final two years B.Sc./ B.A./ Diploma in Education and clear the exam with at least 45% marks are also eligible to apply for the Paper-II of the WB TET examinations 2022.

The minimum qualifying marks for the WB TET exam are based on the National Council for Teacher Education’s Guideline 9A. As per these guidelines, candidates belonging to the General or unreserved category need to obtain 60 per cent marks in the exam, that is, 90 out of 150. However, reserved category candidates such as SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PH, EC, Ex-Servicemen and DH need to obtain 55 per cent marks, that is, 82 out of 150.
