The THE (Times Higher Education) released the world university ranking 2023 including, 1,799 universities across 104 countries. The ranking is based on 13 indicators to measure an institution’s performance across 4 fields: research, knowledge transfer, teaching and international outlook.
In university ranking, the University of Oxford retains tops for past seven years. Harvard University remains in second position, while the University of Cambridge jumps to joint third from joint fifth. With 177 institutions, USA (United States of America) becomes the most represented country overall and also the most represented in top 200 i.e., 58.
The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) remains the top position among all the Indian institutions in Times Higher Education (THE) ranking. The Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Management Science (Himachal Pradesh based a private university) spots the Second in its debut in the ranking.
