The SSB Interview is conducted in 5 days and is almost the same for all the three wings. Interview is conducted in two phases
- Phase I - Screening
- Phase II - Psychological test,Group test,Personal interview and Conference
Phase I - Screening
Day 1, Is also known as reporting day. This day is divided into two activities OIR and PPDT test.
OIR or Officers Intelligence Rating,this task is conducted to check the candidates reasoning abilities. A booklet having 50 questions, verbal or non verbal type is allotted, you have to solve it in 30 minutes.
PPDT this task is also known as picture perception and discussion test. In this task a blurry and hazy image is displayed on the screen for 30 seconds then in the next 4 minutes candidates have to write a story around it.
Phase II - Psychological test,Group test,Personal interview and Conference
Day 2, also called psychological test day 4 activities are conducted
- TAT
- WAT
- SRTDay 5, This day is also called Conference Day
- SD
1.[TAT] or Thematic Apperception Test, a slide of back to back 12 images are displayed 11 are hazy and the last one is blank for 30 seconds candidates have to write a story according to their perception in just 4 minutes.
- [WAT] or Word Association Test,60 back to back words are displayed for 15 seconds. Candidates have to write a sentence that strikes in their mind using the shown word.
- [SRT] or Situation Reaction Test ,A booklet having 60 different situations candidates have to write their response in 30 minutes.
4.[SD] or Self Description, In This task candidates have to write about their opinion on their parents,friends and yourself.
Day 3, The day called GTO - I, 5 activities conducted in this day
- {GD} Group Discussion ,candidates are required to discuss two topics back to back for 15-20 minutes.
- {GPE} Group Planning Exercise is also known as military planning exercise. In this task candidates are divided into groups 6-12 members in each. There are two phases in GPE, first is individual planning and second one is group planning. A map is placed in front of them and candidates have to conclude it with the map.
- {PGT} Progressive Group Task, candidates have to cross certain obstacles with some weight like rope,wooden plank,etc. Candidates have to cross each hurdle in the shortest time.
- {HGT} Half Group Task, it’s just the group divided into half obstacles and hurdles are the same as PGT.
- {GOR} Group Obstacle Race,candidates have to cross some obstacles with rope sticking like a snake, it is a group task.
Day 4, Of the SSB is Group task-II, This task includes
- Lecturette, candidates are given 4 topics they have to speak on one of the given topics for 3 minutes.
- {IOT}, Individual Obstacle Task, Candidates have to cross 10 obstacles individually . This task includes :- Jumping over a slide, Long jump, High jump, Zig-zag balance, Walking with a wooden log etc.
- Command Task, candidates are made the commander and they choose their own team member. The commander gives instructions while team members have to follow them and complete the task.
- {FGT}, Final Group Task, this task is the same as PGT, one more round is conducted where candidates have to perform as a team.
- Personal Interview, This part is the most important part of SSB. Candidates have a one to one interaction with the interviewing officer. Candidates are questioned on their daily activities, general awareness etc.
Day 5, This day is also called Conference Day
This is the final stage of the SSB, on this day candidates have to face a panel of officers who assess the candidate on various aspects like personality,presence of mind,performance in SSB tasks etc.
