Allocation proposed for Punjab under Samagra Shiksha scheme by the Ministry of Education (MoE)
- The Ministry of Education has proposed an allocation of ₹1,181.30 crores for Punjab in the financial year 2023-24 under the centrally sponsored Samagra Shiksha program for school education.
- The Ministry of Education has drafted a proposal; the state government has to submit it by next month.
- The allocation of ₹1,181.30 crores out of which ₹708 crores will come from the central government, and ₹472.52 crore from the State Government which is in a ratio of 60:40.
- This scheme aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education from preschool to senior secondary stage by sustainable development goals for education.
- In comparison to the financial year 2022-23 there is a marginal increase in allocation of ₹148 crores.
- As per the statement of Vipin Kumar, joint secretary of the department of school education and literacy “The overall plan proposal from the state should not exceed 1.25 times the estimated plan outlay,”
