Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) is the largest life insurance organisation in the country. It recruits young Indian candidates for various vacancies in its branches across the country. In this article, we will discuss the exam related information like eligibility criteria, the application process, exam scheme and syllabus, selection process and other details for various posts of Assistant Administrative Officer (AAO) - Specialists in LIC.
The designation of specialists under the post of Assistant Administrative Officer (AAO) are as follows:

Eligibility and Selection Criteria:
A. Nationality: A candidate must be an Indian.
B. Age: Ranges from 21 to 30 years. Age relaxation will be considered for OBC, SC, ST and EWS category candidates as per government norms. Further relaxation of 5 years will be considered for LIC employees.

Examination Scheme:
The selection of Assistant Administrative Officers (AAOs) will be done through a three-tiered process and subsequent Pre-recruitment Medical examination.
Tier - I (Preliminary Examination): This tier consists of a Computer-based online objective test having three sections:

- The English language paper will be of qualifying nature and a candidate will have to clear this test. But marks in English papers will not be considered for the ranking.
Tier - II (Main Examination): This tier consists of two computer-based online tests: objective test (300 marks) and descriptive test (25 marks). The timing of both the tests will be different and the descriptive tests will be conducted immediately after the completion of the objective test by typing on the computer.

- The Descriptive Test of English Language will be of qualifying nature and a candidate will have to clear this test. But marks in English papers will not be considered for the ranking.
- The medium of all the papers will be both English and Hindi except English language and legal drafting papers.
- A candidate must pass in each section separately and also obtain minimum marks in aggregate to qualify for further examinations and interviews.
- The corrected marks obtained by each candidate in separate sessions (if held) will be normalized using the equi-percentile equating method.
Interviews and Merit lists:
Candidates will be shortlisted for interviews on the basis of marks obtained in the main examination. After the interview, the final merit list will be prepared by adding the interview marks with the marks obtained in the main examination. The selected candidate will be appointed as Assistant Administrative Officer (AAO) if found medically fit during the Pre-Recruitment Medical Examination.
Salaries:
The salary of a candidate appointed as Assistant Administrative Officer (AAO) after successful completion of apprenticeship (Theoretical & Field Sales Training) will be approximately ₹ 57,000/- in ‘A’ Class City including House Rent Allowance and City Compensatory Allowance. Other benefits like Pension, Gratuity, LTC, Cash Medical Benefit, Group Mediclaim, Group Personal Accident Insurance, Group Insurance, Vehicle Loan, meal coupon, reimbursement of the cost of Briefcase/leather bags, mobile handset, supply of dailies and magazines and tea/coffee, mobile expenses, etc., are also provided to selected candidates.
Guarantee Bond:
Candidates selected for Assistant Administrative Officer (AAO) will have to undertake to serve the organization for a period of at least four years from the date of joining (including the probation period). If he/she fails to do so, the candidates will be liable to pay liquidated damages of ₹ 5,00,000/-only (Rupees Five Lakhs only) to the organisation.
How to Apply Online for the LIC AAO Exam?
The application process will be categorised into 2 stages:
A. Application Registration:
Before applying, a candidate must have
(i) scanned images of his/her recent passport size, coloured photograph, signature, left thumb impression and a handwritten declaration (in English and in blue or black ink on white paper).
The text for handwritten declaration is as follows:
“I, __ (Name of candidate) __, hereby declare that all the information submitted by me in the application form is correct, true and valid. I will present the supporting documents as and when required.”
(ii) a valid and active personal email ID and mobile number. LIC verifies these details by sharing the registration and password and can use it to send the call letters for the exam and interview.
Steps:
- Visit the website: [(http://www.licindia.in/Bottom-Links/careers.)]
- Open the links ‘’Recruitment of AAO (Specialist)’’. It will redirect you to the online registration page.
- Select the tab “Click here for new registration” and fill in the required information mentioned there correctly.
- Thereafter, a Provisional Registration Number and Password will be generated by the system and displayed on the screen.
- Now login with Provisional Registration Number and Password and fill in the details carefully and click on ‘Verify your details’ and ‘Save & Next’ tabs.
- Now upload the scanned images of the photograph, signature, left thumb impression and a handwritten declaration.
- Then click on the ‘Preview Tab’ to preview and verify the entire application form.
- After ensuring that the photograph, signature and other details uploaded by you are correct, click on the ‘FINAL SUBMIT’ tab to proceed to the next step.
B. Payment of fees:
- A candidate has to pay the application fee/intimation fee (non-refundable) through online mode only. Payment can be made using Debit Cards, Credit Cards, Internet Banking, IMPS, or Cash Cards/Mobile Wallets.
- On successful completion of the transaction, an e-receipt will be generated.
- After successful payment of the fee, a confirmation page will be generated for the candidate. They can use it for further recruitment processes in the future.
Issue of call letters and Examination:
- Candidates need to visit the LIC website: [(http://www.licindia.in/Bottom-Links/careers)] .
- They can download their call letters for Computer-Based Tests (CBT) by giving details about (i) Registration Number, (ii) Password and (iii) Date of Birth.
- Candidates must affix a recent recognisable photograph on the printed call letter.
- Candidates will have to appear at the examination centre with (i) a call letter (ii) original photo identity proof issued by the Govt. Authorization and photocopy of the same photo identity proof which is brought in the original.
- A candidate will have to appear for the examination on the date given in the respective call letter/admit card at his own risk and expense.
