The Central Teaching Eligibility Test, often abbreviated as CTET, is regarded as a standard for an individual to prove his/her eligibility for their appointment as a teacher from class I to VIII.
The Central Board of Education(CBSE), Delhi is held responsible for conducting the Central Teaching Eligibility Test(CTET) by The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India.
The CTET is conducted twice a year in 20 different Indian languages, under the National Council for Teacher Education(NCTE) guidelines.

CTET Eligibility Criteria:
a.) Nationality:
The candidate should be a citizen of India
b.) Age Limit:
There is no specific age limit for the CTET exam. The candidate can apply a number of times to increase his CTET score.
c.) Reservation Criteria:
There isn’t a provision of seat reservations for the reserved category(SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates)candidates. However, the reserved category is provided a relaxation of 5% marks in the qualifying exam of the CTET.
Educational Qualification (Essential Qualifications):
The candidate applying for CTET must possess the minimum educational qualification. As the exam is divided into two papers so is the level of qualification.
Minimum educational qualification required for becoming the teacher for Class I-V:
- Senior Secondary(or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education OR
- Senior Secondary(or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education as per the NCTE 2002 Norms OR
- Senior Secondary(or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of the 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) OR
- Senior Secondary(or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of the 2-year Diploma in Education(Special Education) OR
- Graduation with 50% marks and 1-year B.Ed Examination
Minimum Educational Qualification required for becoming the teacher for Class VI-VIII:
- Bachelor Degree and passed or appearing in the final year of the 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education OR
- Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor of Education(B.Ed) OR
- Graduation with 45% marks and passed or appearing in the 1-year Bachelor of Education(B.Ed), as per the NCTE Norms OR
- Senior Secondary(or its equivalent) with 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of the 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education(B.El.Ed) OR
- Senior Secondary(or its equivalent) with 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of the 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed. OR
- Senior Secondary(or its equivalent) with 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed./ (B.Ed. Special Education) OR
- Any candidate having qualified B.Ed. Programme recognized by the NCTE is also eligible.

How to Apply:
Online Application:
- The eligible candidates need to visit the official website of CTET www.ctet.nic.in to apply for the exam.
- Click on the “Apply Online” link to proceed with your application. The application form will be displayed on the screen which you will fill down correctly.
- You need to note the Registration no./Application no. for future reference.
- The next step is to upload your latest scanned documents that include your scanned photograph and signature.
- You can now pay the fee for the examination by the methods provided there i.e. payment through e-challan, debit/credit cards, and Internet banking. You need to print the confirmation page for future reference and the candidate copy of the E-challan if the fee is paid through Canara E-Challan.
Note: The candidates cannot change their particulars once the examination fee is submitted. Thereafter, the corrections can be done online w.e.f. 22-10-21 to 28-10-21 only. No changes will be accepted through offline mode.
Pattern of Examination:
The structure of the examination process for the CTET is as following:
The examination is divided into two levels i.e the Primary level and the Elementary level. The Primary level(Paper-I) is for those candidates who intend to teach from class I-V. The Secondary level(Paper-II) is for those candidates who intend to teach from class V-VIII.
Note: The candidates intending to teach for both levels need to appear in both papers(Paper-I & Paper-II).

*The questions will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and all the parts are compulsory to attempt. *The language of the main exam will be bilingual (Hindi/English).
*The candidates are given 150 minutes for each paper i.e. Paper-I & Paper-II.
Mode of Examination:
Earlier the CTET was conducted in the off-line mode but this time the CTET will be conducted through online mode i.e Computer Based Test commonly known as the CBT.

Qualifying Marks:
As per the NCTE notification no. 76-4/2010/NCTE/Acad dated 11.02.2011: A person who scores more than 60% or more marks in the TET exam is considered a TET pass.
Certificate & Marksheet:
CBSE will provide the CTET mark-sheets to all the candidates and eligibility certificates to the qualifying candidates in Digital format which will be signed digitally.
*The CTET qualifying certificate for an appointment is valid for a lifetime.
