DSP stands for Deputy Superintendent of Police. In state police services, DSP is a good rank of officers. The post of DSP is similar to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP). The DSP may be promed to the post of IPS. This truly depends on rules and regulations. UPPSC invites applications every year for this post.

Selection Process

The selection process involves three to four stages. The candidates who want to become DSP have to apply for state Civil Services examination. After qualifying these stages of examinations, candidates have to undergo probationary training before they are posted as DSP. Here is the list of important stages:

  • Interview

  • Physical efficiency test

  • Medical test

Satyathetruth The eligibility criteria for the post of DSP is as follow:

  • Citizen of India

  • Graduation in any stream from a recognised university

  • The candidates must be between 21 to 30 years old. Although, 5-year relaxation is available in the upper age limit for SC / ST applicants.

  • The minimum height required is 168 centimetres for male candidates and 155 centimetres for female candidates.

  • Minimum chest required is 84 cm for men, with the least expansion of 5 centimetres.
