After successfully clearing class 12th, the list of steps and courses that are to be followed are listed below for your reference.
- UG Level Preparation: Aspiring candidates, can pursue any Undergraduate Hotel Management Courses or Cooking Courses and other culinary courses such as B.A. Culinary Arts etc. There are several colleges across the country that offer these courses.
- PG Level Preparation: In general, an Undergraduate degree would suffice for any candidate who aspires to become a Chef. However, in certain cases, some students prefer to pursue Postgraduate Courses as well.

Bachelor of Hotel Management (BHM) in Culinary – Three-year full-time graduate course, eligibility is 10+2 with Science subjects. Admissions are based on merit and entrance examinations.
B.Sc. in Catering Science and Hotel Management – Three-year, semester-based undergraduate course; minimum eligibility is 10+2, and admissions are based on entrance exams.
Certificate in Food Production and Patisserie – Short-term course ranging from 6 months to 18 months. Eligibility is SSC or 10th with English.
PG Diploma in Culinary Arts – One-year full-time post-graduate diploma course is offered by various Culinary and Hotel Management colleges. Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree and have to go through an entrance exam to get admissions.
