GATE Examination
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering(GATE) is a national examination that is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science(IISc) and the seven Indian Institutes of Technologies (IITs) on behalf of the National Coordination Board(NCB) - Gate comes under Department of Higher Education. Qualifying of Gate is mandatory for seeking admission in Master’s programs, and Doctoral programs in Engineering/Technology/Architecture. Some colleges also required GATE to admit students many Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) also been using the GATE score in their recruitment process.

Candidates can apply on the website (https://gate.iitkgp.ac.in)
Apply for the examination.
Upload photograph, signature, and other documents and category certificate (SC / ST / PwD) and /
or Dyslexic certificate as applicable.
Exam Pattern
The Gate exam is conducted online with a duration of 3 hours. There are a total of 29 subjects.

Syllabus
The syllabus of different subjects with topics are
General Aptitude
- Verbal Aptitude - Basic English grammar such as tenses, articles, adjectives, prepositions, conjunctions, verb-noun
and the agreement, and other parts of speech such as Basic vocabulary: words, idioms, and phrases,
Reading and comprehension Narrative sequencing.
Quantitative Aptitude -Data interpretation: data graphs (bar graphs, pie charts, and other graphs representing data), 2- D and 3-D plots, maps, and tables Numerical computation and estimation: ratios, percentages, powers, exponentials and logarithms, permutations and combinations, and series, Mensuration, and geometry Elementary statistics and probability
Analytical Aptitude - Logic: deduction and induction, Analogy, Numerical relations, and reasoning
Spatial Aptitude, Shape Transformation: translation, rotation, scaling, mirroring, assembling, and grouping
Paper folding, cutting, and 2-D and 3-D patterns.
