Indian Railways’ operations are divided into zones, which are further subdivided into divisions, each with its own divisional headquarters. On the Indian Railway System, there are a total of 19 zones (including Metro Railway, Kolkata) and 70 divisions. A Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) oversees each division and reports to the zone’s General Manager (GM). A DRM can be appointed from any of Indian Railways’ eight structured services.
