The Ministry of Education (MoE) has launched a new scheme “New India Literacy Programme” (NILP) for the next five years to cover the aspects of adult education to align with the New Education Policy (NEP). As per the vision, Government has given INR 1037.90 crore to this initiative programme. This program envisions educating non-literates who are 15 year old or above. The objective of this scheme is to target not only fundamental literacy and numeracy but also to cover other components which are necessary for a citizen of 21st century. The scheme will be implemented through volunteerism and online mode. This scheme covers non-literates of 15 and above in all states and UTs.

    this programme will get benefited that School will be Unit for implementation of the scheme.Schools to be used for conducting survey of beneficiaries and Voluntary Teachers .Different strategies are to be adopted for different age cohorts. Flexibility for States or UTs will be provided to undertake innovative activities.
