kajal_123 Both ITI (Industrial Training Institute) and Diploma (Polytechnic) students get opportunities in government jobs, but the chances and level of posts differ:
ITI (NCVT/SCVT Trades)
(i) Recruitment chances: Higher for Group D and Group C level posts.
(ii) Common departments: Railways (Technician, Assistant Loco Pilot, Track Maintainer), SSC (MTS, Technician), State Electricity Boards, Defence civilian posts, PSUs (like BHEL, SAIL, NTPC for Technician grade).
(iv) Advantage: A lot of direct recruitment vacancies are advertised specifically for ITI trades.
(v) Limitation: Growth is slower, pay scale is usually lower compared to Diploma-based posts.
Diploma (Polytechnic β 3 Years after 10th/2 Years after 12th)
(i) Recruitment chances: More in Junior Engineer (JE) or Technical Supervisor level posts.
(ii) Common departments: Railways (JE, Technician Grade-II), SSC JE, State PWD/Irrigation/Electricity Boards, PSUs (NTPC, ONGC, DRDO, ISRO for Technician/JE roles).
(iii) Advantage: Posts are of higher grade, better pay scale, and faster promotions.
(iv) Limitation: Direct vacancies are fewer compared to ITI, but competition is less because only diploma holders are eligible
