I see on a daily basis that many children struggle to understand and read study materials. Also, they feel problem with writing. People are so result oriented that they forget that they are children and they need compassion in such situations. As I perceive, these points can be implemented while tackling this:
- Establish a genuine connection with the child: Try to explain what a learning disability is to them.
- Praise effort rather than results.
- Focus on the child’s strengths rather than his or her flaws.
- Make sure they have role models.
- Encourage them and monitor their emotions on a frequent basis.
- Divide the task into manageable chunks and provide clear instructions.
