As we all know application has been opened by SSC for CGL 2022 exam. There’s a lot of confusion regarding the format and validity date of the caste and EWS certificates and also about the empowered authority to issue the certificates. Following are the major points that you must know that will clear the doubts-

  • The format for the SC/ST, OBC, EWS and person with disability certificates is in the official notification and that must be followed.

  • Empowered Authorities to issue the certificates are-

(i) District Magistrate/Additional District Magistrate/Collector/Deputy Commissioner/Additional Deputy Commissioner/Dy.Collector/Ist Class Stipendiary Magistrate/Sub-Divisional Magistrate/Extra-Assistant Commissioner/Taluka Magistrate/Executive Magistrate.

(ii) Chief Presidency Magistrate/Additional Chief Presidency Magistrate/Presidency Magistrate.

(iii) Revenue Officers not below the rank of Tehsildar.

(iv) Sub-Divisional Officers of the area where the candidate and/or his family normally resides.

  • And the date of issue of the certificate to be valid must be before the last date of application i.e. 08/10/2022.

1- What are your thoughts about this change in caste certificate format?

2- Will this make application process hassle-free?
