About
National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation (NHFDC) is implementing 2 Scholarship schemes under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India for disabled students. Under these schemes, nearly 2500 (Two Thousand Five Hundred) new scholarships are provided each year for pursuing higher and technical courses.

Objective

  • The objective of the Scheme is to provide financial assistance to the differently-abled students to enable them to pursue professional or technical courses from recognized institutes and get employed/self-employed.
  • Differently-abled students face several barriers physical, financial, psychological, mental in pursuing studies and living with dignity. At times such students are deprived of harnessing their latent skills and thereby miss the opportunity to earn their livelihood and find a dignified place for themselves in the society. This scheme envisages encouraging differently-abled students by providing scholarships and other assistance to pursue professional or technical courses and various skill development courses for their empowerment.

Number of Scholarships
To start with every year 2500 scholarships will be provided to the differently-abled students throughout the country. 30% scholarships will be reserved for girls, which will be transferable to male students in case of non-availability of female candidates.

Scope
These scholarships will be available for studies in India, for all differently-abled students who are covered under the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunity, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995 and the National Trust for the Welfare of Persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities Act, 1999. Only Indian Nationals will be eligible for scholarships.

Scholarship Scheme (Trust Fund)
Under this scheme, a total of 2000 (Two Thousand) Scholarships are provided in a single year to the various eligible students with disabilities for pursuing Post Metric courses including professional and technical of more than 1-year duration.
Eligibility Criteria
The monthly annual income of the candidate’s parents or guardian should not exceed Rs. 3 lakh and the candidates should not apply for another scholarship other than this.

Scholarship Scheme (National Fund)
Under this scheme, a total of 500 (Five Hundred) scholarships are provided in a single year to disabled students for pursuing their post metric professional & technical courses.
Eligibility
The monthly annual income of the candidate’s parents or guardian should not exceed Rs. 1.80 lakh and the candidates should not apply for another scholarship other than this.

Sarvesh
Students can apply online from the official website: http://nhfdc.nic.in/ and send the (hard copy) of the application form duly signed by the head of the institution or college along with a copy of necessary documents.

Sarvesh
The Scholarship amount is 1.50 lakhs (One Lakh Fifty Thousand) depending on course fees, maintenance, books, stationery allowance, aids, and appliances of the disabled student.

Sandeeprai
Rejection of Applications in the following conditions:-
(a) Incomplete in any respect;
(b) Not accompanied by copies of the required documents;
© Any fresh paper / enclosures submitted after closing date, shall not be considered;

Sarvesh
The scholarship amount is 1.50 lakhs and is determined by the impaired student’s course fees, books, stationery allowance, assistance, and appliances.

Sandeeprai
NHFDC can reject the application in special conditions only. These conditions are

  • If your application is incomplete in any aspect
  • If all the required documents are not attached properly
  • If any enclosures or document is submitted after last date it will not be considered
