The State Government of Bihar has called off the conduction the Bihar TET(BTET) examination for now with immediate effect. The reason for not conducting the BTET is being provided that since the central government conducts the Central Teacher Eligibilty Test every year then there occurs no need of conducting it again at the state level. However, the decision can be altered in the future if any such need occurs.
The Bihar government in its official notice has provided the statement that BTET will not be conducted for now.
Let us see what exactly this exam was about.
What is BTET?
Bihar Teachers Eligibilty Test also known as BTET is conducted every year by the Bihar School Education Board(BSEB). The purpose of this exam is to check the eligibility of the candidates for the post of Primary-level-teachers. Since it is a state-level examination, the candidate clearing this exam becomes eligible to apply for the posts of teachers at the state level.
The examination consists of two papers and candidates gets two and a half hours to complete their papers. The language for the examination is Hindi.
The eligibility criteria for the BTET is provided below:
Nationality- The candidate must be a citizen of India having the domicile certificates of Bihar State.
Age- The age of the candidate should fall between 21 to 35 years.
Educational qualification-
As the examination is conducted for two different criteria i.e. Teacher for I-V classes and Teachers for VI-VIII classes, the educational qualification required also differs for them.

The candidates who secure the qualifying marks in the BTET examination are awarded with BTET certificates which is valid for 7 years.
