What is JEE (Main)?
Expanded as Joint Entrance Examination - Mains, JEE (Main) is the first step towards getting your dream college of engineering which includes NIT, IIIT, CFTI and other established names around the country. Conducted by NTA, National Testing Agency, this exam faces extreme competition across the country so you need to prepare well before heading towards the examination hall.
Formerly known as All India Engineering Entrance Examination, the exam is designed to be an online competitive test which is known as CBT, Computer Based Test. Students can attempt the said exam for three consecutive years where it will be conducted four times during each year, hence totalling the attempts to 18.
During each time, there are in total two papers where the first one is for admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programs (B.E/B. Tech) and the second one is for admission to B. Arch and B. Planning courses available in the Country.

Do I qualify for JEE (Main)?
Although there is no Age Limit set by JEE (Main), the universities and colleges might have some restrictions to make a selection of the students for their campus. So, it is always advisable to check the age limit with your preferred university in advance to avoid any kind of inconvenience.
Students who have passed 12th standard or are appearing for the same can appear for JEE (Main). However, it must be noted that the result of 12th standard should be either 75% or among the top 20 percentile of the marks with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
How to apply for JEE (Main)
Candidates are supposed to visit www.nta.ac.in and www.jeemain.nta.nic.in where they will find the form that they need to fill to register for JEE (Main). Here are the steps that would help you register with the board easily:
- Use your personal email ID and mobile number to register with the website.
- Fill in all the required information and ensure to note down the Application Number which is generated at the end of the process.
- Finally upload the required documents which are mentioned below:
- - Recent photographs (file size 10Kb – 200Kb) should be either in colour or black & white with 80% face (without mask) visible including ears against white background.
- - Candidate’s signature (file size: 4kb - 30kb)
- - Duly verified result awaited attestation form (file size: 50kb to 500kb)
- - Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS etc.) (file size: 50kb to 300KB)
- - PwD certificate (file size: 50kb to 300kb) in jpg/jpeg format.
- At last, make your payment using one of the accepted payment methods and also keep a proof of the transaction.
- At last download the final page, i.e. Confirmation Page of the Application Form.

Exam Result for JEE (Main)
JEE (Main) declares the merit list only after both the exams are conducted successfully so you will have to wait for it. If you are someone who is planning to appear for both, you shall know that the board will use your best of the four scores to put in the merit list.
Once the list is out, you can either select the college of your choice like NIT, IIIT, CFTI and others, or appear for the next tier of this exam which is called JEE (Advance).

What are the facilities for disable people in the JEE (Main) Exam?
A person with not less than 40% of a specified disability appearing for JEE (Main) can have a Scribe/Reader/Lab Assistant to help them write their paper considering the educational qualification of the helper should be one step lower. Besides this, twenty minutes per hour shall be compensated for PwD irrespective of them having a scribe to write for them.
